My name is Irina Tescureanu and I suffer from Friedreich Ataxia (FA). FA is a nervous system disorder that can lead to a gradual loss of balance and coordination, as well as problems with speech and heart diseases. Friedreich Ataxia is a rare genetic disorder that appears as a degeneration of the cerebellum and spinal cord structures leading to a change in coordination of movements and other sensory functions.
Until 2014, I lived in uncertainty, because no one could give ma an precise diagnosis, tumor and sclerosis were some of the alleged diagnoses by local doctors.
In July 2014, at the ERASME clinic in Brussels, Belgium, after genetic testing, they discovered that I was suffering from FA. In September of the same year, I became a member of the research project of this disease, called E-FACTS.
This implied me taking part in a research conducted by a professional team led by prof. Dr. Massimo Pandolfo, who is also the head of the Brussels lab (ULB). A study of my health is conducted every year and it includes a series of tests in Belgium.
This September, I have to go to Belgium for further research, but I require financial support from each of you. Thanks to you, I can make my dream come true.
Kant said "In order to go through all the difficulties, heaven gave man three things: hope, dreams and smiles" and I believe that a smile involuntarily appears after dreams, fed up with hopes become reality.
Thanks in advance to everyone who will help me
