Maxim Gavrilenco, the boy once fed through a tube, says thank you to everyone who helped him.

Maxim was just 11 years old when life handed him a challenge no child should ever have to face. A serious diagnosis… words spoken with trembling voices by his parents. And he, still a child, simply tried to understand why the adults around him were crying when they looked at him.

Years have passed. Today, Maxim is a tall, confident young man who smiles warmly as he talks about the past. “It was hard,” he says, his eyes soft and honest, “but I was never alone.
You can’t imagine how much a kind thought or small gesture means. For some people, it was just a few spare coins — but for me, it meant medicine, travel, tests… hope.”

Maxim is living proof that when kindness comes from the heart, it returns tenfold.
He was one of the children supported by people of goodwill — people who chose to give, month after month. Something small, but steady. Two dollars. One coffee less. A tiny gesture that tipped the scale toward life.

“I don’t know who all those people who helped me were, but I’m grateful to them. Every donation was a step toward healing. And when you save a child, you’re not just saving one life. You’re saving an entire world — theirs, their parents’, and everyone who loves them.”

Today, Maxim is doing well. He’s studying, dreaming, living. And he shares his story so that we never forget what it means to be human.
Because sometimes, just two dollars a month can change a destiny.
